Do Electromagnetic Fields Affect the Pineal Gland, Limiting Human Consciousness?

As humanity continues into the new millennium, technology and communication continue to play an increasingly important role in human life. Today, most people in developed countries are completely connected through cell phones, tablets and computers. Today’s households have an increasing array of electrical devices, from wireless modems to intelligent appliances to smart meters. Where 50 years ago, 1 electrical outlet per room was sufficient, today, homes have at least 1 outlet per wall on every wall of the house. People are always connected, and figuratively, the world is getting smaller each day.

As the Information Age unfolds, so does information about our exposure to artificial electromagnetic fields (EMF) that many believe can be quite harmful to the human body. Even if you don’t believe that heavy usage of devices such as cell phones can cause cancer and brain tumors, one must acknowledge the documented proof that electronic devices can disrupt or alter brain function. “The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies electromagnetic fields (EMFs) as ‘possibly carcinogenic’ to humans that might transform normal cells into cancer cells.” (source)

One example of research into the effects of EMF includes a study conducted by Bary W. Wilson et al. With their findings published in the Journal of Pineal Research, Wilson et al. examined the possible effects of 60-Hz electromagnetic-field exposure on pineal gland function in humans. In the study, the researchers measured excretion of urinary 6-hydroxymelatonin sulfate (6-OHMS), a stable urinary metabolite of the pineal hormone melatonin, in 42 individuals who used conventional and continuous polymer wire (CPW) electric blankets for the duration of 8 weeks. The researchers reported:

Volunteers using conventional electric blankets showed no variations in 6-OHMS excretion as either a group or individuals during the study period. Serving as their own controls, 7 of 28 volunteers using the CPW blankets showed statistically significant changes in their mean nighttime 6-OHMS excretion. The CPW blankets switched on and off approximately twice as often when in service and produced magnetic fields that were 50% stronger than those from the conventional electric blankets. On the basis of these findings, we hypothesize that periodic exposure to pulsed DC or extremely low frequency electric or magnetic fields of sufficient intensity and duration can affect pineal gland function in certain individuals. – Wilson et al. (Journal of Pineal Research)

Another study was at the University of Berne in Switzerland on the effects of 16.7 Hz magnetic fields on 6-OHMS excretion. This study was based on comparing 6-OHMS levels of 108 male railway workers between leisure periods and days following the start of service on electrically powered engines or working beneath transmission lines. The findings were similar:

“The results support the hypothesis that 16.7 Hz magnetic fields alter 6-OHMS excretion in humans exposed to magnetic fields.”– Pfluger DH et al. (National Center for Biotechnology Information)

Most recently, Malka N. Halgamuge of the University of Melbourne in Australia further examined the effect of man-made EMF on the pineal gland. Halgamuge states in his research that the pineal gland likely recognizes EMF as light, which consequently would result in reduced melatonin production.

“…the results show the significance of disruption of melatonin due to exposure to weak EMFs, which may possibly lead to long-term health effects in humans.” – Malka N. Halgamuge (Oxford Journals)

The pineal gland is a small part of the body’s endocrine system and is located between the brain’s two hemispheres. This particular gland secretes melatonin, which is believed to contribute to our effects of well-being and happiness and regulates our sleep/wake cycle. Melatonin is also believed to fight free radicals that can damage neurons.

It is documented that the pineal gland is sensitive to all types of magnetic fields, including geomagnetic fields of the Sun’s solar storms, and also extremely sensitive to tissue calcification, especially when exposed to Fluoride, which is also magnetically attracted to the pineal gland, causing a number of mental disorders.

Ancient cultures and modern and modern spiritualists believe that the pineal gland is the location of the “Third Eye” – the seat of the human soul, as deducted by the French philosopher Rene Descartes, and that it regulates our conscious awareness. Brain scans reveal that pineal gland activity increases with meditation, and many people also believe that the pineal gland can be tuned into certain frequencies which can result in a sense of euphoria and connection with ‘universal oneness.’

For those who have had modern spiritual experiences, especially after cleansing the pineal gland or when practicing pineal activation exercises, you already know that the body can indeed be tuned to receive certain wavelengths of energy, positive or negative, and that anything that agitates the optimal function of the human body also disrupts the individual’s potential to give and receive positive energy.

If human consciousness is indeed affected by the performance of the pineal gland, and the pineal gland is adversely affected by environmental electro-magnetic radiation, then are we damaging our consciousness with over-exposure to electro-magnetic radiation?

In this light, it would appear that setting up massive public infrastructure that inundates the body and the pineal gland with a chaotic blend of powerful frequencies may be another one of mankind’s great blunders.

  1. I just watched a very good talk by Prof. Martin Pall on the effects of EMF’s. He’s a professor of bio medicine in Washington State University and has been trying to spread awareness of the damage EMF’s cause to the body. He started doing so after discovering what he believes is the first ‘malfunction’ they cause (overflooding certain cells with calcium ions). This then goes on to cause all sorts of damage.

He really lays it out quite well, so it’s worth a watch.

Here’s a copy of his presentation notes (which I found very useful for taking it all in):

The really liked the way he went through the ‘how’s’ of it all, and what really stupid of was the level of damage mobile phones cause being similar to an x-ray machine despite the difference in radiation type and levels.

    • Thanks Nathan, I’ll certainly follow that up and watch those videos. I’ve heard very worrying things, like how EMF’s can change our DNA, and one doctor, talking about healing chronic illness, saying that sorting out EMF exposure (and mould actually) in someone’s home is a prerequisite for any therapeutic regime to work!

    • Thanks Nathan! I watched the first 10 minutes of it and it’s seems really well presented scientifically.

Will also continue watching the rest at some point in order to get a better understanding of EMF effects on me (and everybody else) and its negative impacts.

  2. Thanks for posting this article. With today’s tech around and everything almost wireless, I tend to be more on the cautious side than not; Switching my phone to flight-mode before going to bed, keeping it at least one meter away from me when I can, staying away from microwaved food and going out in nature when I can to discharge. Evidence is mounting that EMFs are harmful, especially to babies and young children and as the harmful long term effects are better understood, I hope we all become more careful in the use of this technology.

That said, I came across the following video which talks about google wanting to place solar powered drones into the high atmosphere and deliver a new high speed internet to the world using high frequency radio wave technology. The project is called skybender with a short news update here. If this is what the future holds, it’ll become harder and harder to stay out of the reach of EMFs.

    • Hello Roy, I couldn’t agree with you more.

That’s concerning regarding the drones, do you have the video to post?

      Thanks in advance.

    • That is concerning, though from my understanding from watching “Resonance Beings of Frequency” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oS6FGzh3ygw – is that where ever we can get a mobile signal, pick up the radio etc, we are surrounded by these unnatural frequencies. Still, obviously it’s worse living in a city next to a transmitter, but it is shocking that already the world is encased in these jarring frequencies without any testing, or without any care about damage inflicted more like, and no upper threshold set. They’ll probably just keep pushing it incrementally in a way that’s accepted and not able to show the dramatic effects.

  3. I’m often a bit sceptical about this sort of stuff, or rather a bit rebellious against how sometimes people give it more weight than it has. Where it seems to me something (like: GMO food, chemtrails, wireless, fluoride etc.) has perhaps sneakily become an excuse and seen as the cause of a lack of spiritual development, rather than an influence on it. It’s also something that, despite it possibly being very true, can easily become a belief that just sticks with us, but does little for us. However I do also think that the truth of these things, such as EMF, can be found out by things we experience ourselves. And often if there’s this intuitive feeling about something like this, it might well be right. Also sometimes things are scientifically proven, yet ignored or unheard in the mainstream, but that doesn’t make them less true.

I had heard about the possible effect of radio waves from phones, wifi etc, and had thought about it. But only recently when sleeping right next to a wireless router, did I feel a slight uneasiness, it was more difficult to fully ‘relax’ and let go, a slight sort of agitation, and perhaps a sleep that is less relaxed as well. I thought maybe it’s the wireless router and later on I got my own personal confirmation that it was.

It was quite a funny surprise to see this article appear not long after actually, even more so because something I saw, and didn’t know before, is scientifically confirmed in this article.

So to me it’s something that I definitely think is real. But indeed its possible negative effects seem to be completely ignored in the expansion of this technology? I guess phone companies want to get fast internet to cell phones, so they build and build (and I see these on every corner nowadays) but there don’t seem to be many regulations about it in force that I can tell.

Anyway thanks to the writer of the article and the Conscious Reporter for reposting it.

  4. Last autumnn we had frequent power cuts at our housing complex that sometimes lasted for several hours. Every time I felt a type of tension disappearing from the air and a beautiful relaxing, calm feeling taking its place. I’m not normally aware of this tension as it’s there all the time. It was always a bit depressing when it came back on. It’s interesting (and worrying) to consider that this might be a spiritual, not just physical effect.

Wifi must be one of the worse ones. When you go close to the modem (like when switching it off), you can hear an unpleasant high pitched sound it’s producing and an energy it’s emitting that makes me feel physically sick when that close to it. Our laptop is picking up around ten wifi signals from other apartments in our block of flats at any given time. When going about in the city it’s the same, with probably most public places now offering free wifi, even buses, taxes and parks. It’s considered a great advance in technology of course and even the older generation is getting on board (like with smartphones etc.) It’s a cause of concern that most people don’t seem to think about this twice, or if you hear about studies like this it’s common to dismiss it as a conspiracy theory or something.

I dream of living in the mountains in a cob house built of natural materials with an earthen floor, with only the most vital electrical appliances and cable internet 🙂

    • I would often switch my cell phone to flight mode at night (and still do) but I wonder how much it does? because so many more signals are actually flying around the room anyway. Similarly to you my laptop also picks up 18 other wifi signals from the building block…. and there must be many other radio waves as well being contiously broadcast, such as the normal cell phone signals, and who knows what else.

  5. Very interesting stuff.

I watched this documentary ‘Resonance Beings of Frequency’ (available on YouTube) a while back which offers a great insight into the science behind all this – as well as the careless disregard for our safety those responsible for increasing the EMF soup have.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV9dhGv_tTs

I’ve often wondered why spending time in nature helps with spiritual feelings. It must be multi-faceted, with part of it this subtle energetic influence, normally beyond our conscious perception. The difference of how we feel when our bodies can function as they were designed to, without the stress of alien frequencies bombarding them, is huge.

    • Looks like an interesting documentary, have to check it out. Thanks for sharing Ella.

“The difference of how we feel when our bodies can function as they were designed to, without the stress of alien frequencies bombarding them, is huge.”

      Well said.

    • I just watched the whole documentary and I found it very well done. It really explains the subject in a scientific way and there’s a lot less ‘guesswork’ about the subject than I thought. In fact it’s pretty clear what is happening and how these radio waves actually affect us!

I mentioned it in another comment as well, but having seen and found out something about the subject myself and to then see it confirmed later is quite amazing, and to see it fully explained in such a scientific and clear way.

I do wonder what to do now? What is the best way to minimize the impact of this on us. It seems to me one important aspect is that the emitted radio waves (such as those from wireless routers and cell phones) emit a light or frequency (invisble to eyes) that reaches a part of our brain which makes it think it’s not quite night and therefore doesn’t produce a certain hormone which we need to keep us healthy in many ways? Not only from cancer, but also the health of our organism in general and our spiritual functioning in our body.

Anyone know any ways to counter this? I think, just me, since it’s something that affects us most by disrupting that regenerative funtion during sleep. Perhaps that’s the area where we most need to shield ourselves. Tinfoil hat time? 😀

  6. I knew that certain levels of EMFs exposure could cause a substantial amount of harm physically to the human body (ie. cancer) over time but the fact that studies are now revealing that they can also cause a great deal of harm to our spiritual development/consciousness, directly affecting the pineal gland (third eye) function and its melatonin production (which affects our wake/sleep patterns), is quite alarming.
