Thanks David for summarizing this really important topic. I have often wondered why it seemed like so many of my teenage-year friends, who at the time were interested in spirituality, have not taken that with them into adulthood. It seems people are bombarded with so much information to create a fear-response that it’s not a wonder those longings don’t make it so far.
I find the point about self-censorship particularly poignant and relevant in this reflection. To think that it’s possible to create conditioning influences that evokes this internal resistance to our spiritual longings is really sad. People’s lives so easily get funnelled into prescribed directions and they think it’s what they want. Saying this, I am also reminded that I am no where near free from those limiting influences yet. It’s worth reflecting on how I am still conditioned against my own spirituality, and how fear still influences me.
im glad my husband and I figured out how ive been controlled by fear t.v inducd or not this is something that the world should know …not just being afraid but acting from it makes you more succeptible to it…love how dumb I am…I can spell yay

It’s quite disturbing really, but when you understand how the propaganda, conditioning and things like ‘altruistic fear’ operate, it opens your eyes to why things are as they are, and why this insane and destructive paranoia toward alternative spirituality exists.
Only by knowing how these things operate can we break free of their influence. Thanks for explaining it so clearly.
