The All-Seeing Eye: Sacred Origins of a Hijacked Symbol

Is the all-seeing eye a symbol of divine omniscience or sinister influence? Today it symbolises control and domination by a shadowy elite, but its original use was quite different. This article traces its use and meaning back to ancient times, when it was a symbol of divine providence, powerfully representing spiritual truth and awakening.

Humanity is Losing Its Precious Symbology

The all-seeing eye is a powerful esoteric symbol which is widely misunderstood and misused today; few know what it originally stood for. It was originally symbolic of a higher spiritual power or God, a watchful caretaker of humanity or an awakened spiritual part within. But these days it has quite different associations.

Today the all-seeing eye is more likely to be seen as an “Illuminati” symbol of control and surveillance by elites who to a large degree run the show on this planet at this time. This is because, over time, dark sinister forces have taken over esoteric symbols that for thousands of years were used to convey positive, helpful, uplifting spiritual messages and principles.  The all-seeing eye is a prime example of how spiritual symbols have been hijacked and inverted. There has not really been much push to understand the symbol’s original meaning or to reclaim it for the spiritual significance it first conveyed.

This is the first in a series of articles I am presenting that will take a closer look at individual symbols, and delve into their origins and history to uncover their deeper esoteric significance. I am writing these as part of an effort to reclaim these positive esoteric symbols and restore them to their previously esteemed state.

Universal Nature of Symbolism

Symbolism has long been used by humanity to communicate ideas which are best crystallised in a compact form. As the well-known saying goes, a picture tells a thousands words! Esoteric symbols are alive today as they were in the ancient past, but there is much confusion surrounding their usage, history, intent, and meaning.

In ordinary life we use symbols to show at a glance important information such as traffic and road signs amongst many other symbols which are widespread and common today. Some other examples are corporate logos and certification statuses.

Symbolism is also especially used in the communication of non-physical, spiritual ideas, phenomena, and processes.

The all-seeing eye is one of the most powerful and widely used  and misused  symbols of all. In this article I trace its use from the earliest of times through to the 18th century, and show what the symbol originally stood for. My next article will examine its use from 18th century freemasonry onwards, and show how it has since been hijacked and misused.

Use of the All-Seeing Eye in Ancient Cultures

India

Shiva’s third eye

We perhaps find the precursor to what eventually became known as the all-seeing eye in the Rig Veda, a sanskrit text thought to have been written over 3,000 years ago and one of the oldest known texts. In it there are many references to the sun and to other deities as being an eye in heaven, as an eye which reveals creation, or an eye which never closes.

One can liken this to being symbolic of a high level of awakened consciousness that advanced spiritual beings have and which an ordinary person can potentially attain.

The Hindu god Shiva has three eyes. The third eye or brow chakra eye is known as the eye of Shiva, possessor of all knowledge, which when opened will destroy anything it sees. Thus it is a symbol of knowledge which destroys evil and ignorance.

This again can be likened to an awakened higher spiritual part of a person which sees the truth of things and can then eliminate within a person’s psyche that which is opposite to and blocks divine consciousness from manifesting more. In this way it is a “creative destruction” of evil to transform it into higher consciousness.

Even in modern times, the eye of Shiva is used in jewellery to give protection against evil to its wearer and to gain wisdom and understanding from the world, from life events and from the self, for positive transformation.

Nepal

Buddha_all_seeing_eye

Buddha’s all seeing eye

In Buddhism, Buddha is referred to as the Eye of the World. It is typical for temples in Nepal to display a graphic of the “Eyes of Buddha” as shown to the right – notice it includes a mark for the “third eye” as well. The eyes are also known as the eyes of wisdom and compassion.

Statues of Buddha typically show a dot in the mid-brow to represent the third eye.

Ancient Egypt

Eye of Osiris

It is interesting to find that the Egyptian hieroglyph for their god Osiris contains an eye as shown below. So as with  Hinduism and Buddhism we find a spiritual deity being represented in ancient times as an eye.

Eye of Horus

In ancient Egypt, the all-seeing eye was known as the Eye of Horus or the Eye of Ra and also formed part of the symbology of Wad-jet. Through various myths they were symbols of protection, healing and restoration. The left eye of Horus was said to be the moon and his right eye the sun.

Horus was a falcon-headed sun god and it could be said the Eye of Horus was styled like an eye of a lanner falcon with its marking beneath the eye.

Could the Eye of Horus represent parts of the brain used to manifest consciousness?

It is also very interesting to note that the drawing of the Eye of Horus very much matches the cross section of the mid brain where the thalamus, the pineal and pituitary glands are situated. The pineal gland is often said to be the “third eye” and a centre of spirituality and of spiritual insight, which can be developed in a person.

It’s as if the Eye of Horus could be a depiction of the thalamus as the eye ball with the corpus callosum the eye brow above and the medulla oblongata (brain stem) and the hypothalamus being the two markings below. If this is what they were drawing but calling it the Eye of Horus, does it suggest they considered the mid brain to be the seat of consciousness or even of divine consciousness or “Horus consciousness”? Horus being a sun god and symbolic of the universal Christ, a spiritual force which a suitably prepared person can merge with.

Middle East/Asia – Hamsa

hamsa_hand_jewish

A Jewish Hamsa

In the Middle East the all-seeing eye has been known in the form of a hand-eye symbol called either Hamsa, Khamsa or Hamesh.

It’s the symbol of an eye in the palm of a hand, usually the right hand. Again it is a symbol of protection against the evil eye (bad luck caused by jealousy from others) and danger in general and can been seen as a good luck charm in that way.

Detail from “The Divine World” by Kahil Gibran

It is also known as the hand of Fatima in Islam and the hand of Miriam in Judaism. In India it is known as Humsa Hand. The Jains also have a form of the Hamsa in their symbolism with the word ahimsa (meaning non-violence) inside a wheel instead of where the eye would be. The Hamsa has been used for thousands of years and is still in use today as amulets, charms or wall hangings. It would seem to have its origins from ancient Mesopotamia with the hand of Ishtar being a symbol of divine protection although it did not contain the eye in the palm.

A more Christian-themed representation of the Hamsa is an art work called “The Divine World” by Kahlil Gibran, a Lebanese Maronite Catholic prominent in the early 20th century as a poet, painter, writer, philosopher, theologian.

In Greece and Turkey they have something similar to the Hamsa which they call a “Nazar”. It is just an eye without the hand but it is used in the same way and has the same meaning as the Hamsa, that is, to ward off the evil eye, in the form of amulets or hanging ornaments usually made from blue glass.

Similarly in Buddhism there is the “eye of Buddha” amulet to ward off the evil eye.

The symbol of an eye in a hand also appears in Aztec and Mayan cultures and in Native American artworks although archaeologists are not sure what meaning it had for these cultures.

To the right is a Native American example referred to as “The Rattlesnake Disc” which was unearthed by a farmer in Moundville, Alabama in the 1800’s. Some archaeologists think its symbolism may have represented a portal to spiritual dimensions. It is the most elaborately decorated artwork found at Moundville giving rise to the belief it was of the most importance to its creators. Other artworks found there also contain the hand-eye symbol.

Ancient Ecuador

There is also the amazing discovery in 1984 in La Mana, central Ecuador, of an ancient artefact referred to as the Black Pyramid amongst 300 artefacts found there of unknown origin.

It is not known what culture they come from and the many objects found are baffling and seemingly out of place for this part of the world, such as an object designed as a hooded King Cobra of south east Asia. Cobras don’t exist in South America.

The so-called Black Pyramid is made from black stone with an eye at the apex. The stone has gold inlays forming 13 levels of “bricks” and an eye at the top. These inlays glow when under black light. Overall it looks like a representation of the great pyramid of Giza (7,470 miles away) and also amazingly just like the eye pyramid symbol used on the Great Seal of America and the US $1 bill.

It is also interesting to note the cobra artefact has another similarity with ancient Egypt where the raised cobra is associated with the Eye of Horus/Ra and Wad-jet in their protective aspects with it being worn on the foreheads of Pharaohs at the mid-brow right where the third eye is located.  This symbolises the raising of a person’s energies to a higher vibration which internally leads to the awakening of psychic faculties such as those latent in the third eye.

LaMana_pyramid_all_seeing_eye

Images via YouTube user Wellington Marin – Illuminati Pyramid from Ecuador

It is not known how old these objects are as dating them has not been possible but they are thought to pre-date the known ancient cultures of the region. There is also a pre-Sanskrit type language (making it very old) engraved on some of the objects including on the underside of the black pyramid where there are also markings which appear to map out the stars of the Orion constellation, which the pyramids at Giza also map. The 4 pre-Sanskrit markings are thought to translate as saying “the son of the creator comes”.

Given the care taken to create this object it would seem to have been an important symbol for its creators although it is not clear how they interpreted it.

Ancient Greek

In the Hymns of Orpheus, the hymn To The Sun describes it variously as thus;

as an “eternal eye with broad survey” ;

and compares it to being the “Father of ages” ;

and as “Immortal Jove, all searching, bearing light” ;

then later as the “Great eye of Nature and the starry skies” ;

followed by “Faithful defender, and the eye of right”

So here we see in an ancient text of the western world similar representation of the sun like that presented in the ancient text of the east, the Rig Veda, as being an eye of the creator and an all-seeing never closing eye watching over and protecting the good.

Christianity

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” (Jesus in Matthew 6:22)

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry;” (Psalms 34:15)

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

The_Talpiot_Tomb_triangle_circle

Does the Talpiot tomb display an all seeing eye?

A possible first known use of the all-seeing eye symbol in Judeo-Christianity is the so-called “Jesus tomb” from 1st century AD discovered in 1980, which uses a similar symbol over the entrance to the tomb. Regardless of whose tomb it is, could this be a first known or early use of the eye-pyramid symbol in the Judeo-Christian tradition?

In Christianity, the all-seeing eye or “Eye of Providence” or “Eye of God” has been used as a symbol from at least the 16th century as seen in the following painting below which depicts a scene from Luke 24: 13-32 where after his resurrection, Jesus has supper with two disciples.

Pontormo_All_Seeing_Eye

16th century Christian painting – dated 1525 by Italian artist Pontormo (student of Da Vinci), called Supper in Emmaus – depicts Luke 24: 13-32

The eye is inside a triangle, and surrounded by rays of light, with the triangle representing the holy trinity and the whole symbol meaning God’s omnipresence and all-seeing eye watching over creation.

Some claim that the eye in triangle symbol was added to the painting soon after the Council of Trent 1545- 1563, to conform with its canons and decrees but even if that is so that would still place its use in the 16th century.

In Alsace, France, the fresco painted above the altar of the Abbey Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste (1763) shows a large example of the eye-in-pyramid symbol, with the rays of glory breaking through the clouds.

Another example is on the Aachen cathedral in Germany. It was originally built in the late 8th century under the Emperor Charlemagne and then enlarged in the middle ages with various other changes and updates along the way. It would seem the all-seeing eye symbol was placed on the cathedral in 1766 to mark the renovations done that year.

Note that these first two examples pre-date the founding of the Bavarian Illuminati (1776) although Freemasonry already existed in England and Europe by this time. Perhaps it was a masonic influence that saw these symbols used on these cathedrals yet it was not until about 1797 that masons are regarded as beginning to use the eye-in-pyramid symbol.

The eye-in-pyramid symbol also features prominently on the front facade of the Hartegbrugkerk Church in Leiden, the Netherlands, built in 1835-36. The Latin words “Hic Domus Dei est et Porta Coeli” translates to “This is the House of God and the Gateway to Heaven.”

These are just some Christian examples of many that appear in Europe.

Conclusion

As we have seen, throughout history there has been a strong tradition across time, continents and cultures of using eye symbolism to generally represent a benevolent creator force watching over, helping and protecting humanity and to represent a spiritual part within.

In my next article I will continue to trace the use of the all-seeing eye symbolism over the last 240 years and reveal how it has been inverted and increasingly used for sinister aims in current times.

  1. Why, when watching a rerun from 1984, did I see a green human eye in the left corner of my TV Screen this evening?

Is this “Big Brother” telling us, he is watching us?

A friend has seen this in the movie theaters lately as well. What is the “Media trying to tell us”? Anything?

  2. Thank you for your article. I got the same “message” (as a picture) today doing some healing in a meditative state, where I spontaneously raised my hands in front of my third eye in a form of a triangle. That got me googling. 😉 In some Daoist Qi Gong practises one raises the hands in a similar formation.

  3. the symbol does not belong to anyone but Indians from India and documentation, writing, origination of religion and education all are our peoples inventions.

  4. I agree with all of your findings. The all seeing eye is a gift from the divine creator upon complete and total universal acceptance and inner peace after suffering in ways of men as a mental, physical and spiritual form of test for experience and relativity into a spiritual ascension should you prove worthy in heart, actions and intent when living in an imperfect world. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see god”. You must fully understand and have heartfelt acceptance of the ways of the world and yourself without the limited perception as an imperfect human creation.

How can you truly know what it is like to be perfect when you never lived imperfect.

God is a human concept, an insatiable need to make sense of a divine consciousness and give life more meaning than just to live. Its simply the ways of mans understanding for believing in something beyond us, we cant adopt the mental comprehension of a god, its different cultures interpretations of the same thing that have been taken under a negative comprehension for thousands of years.

There can be no one way of life where one religion wins over the other, all things are true and false at the same time, divine knowledge and influence must always be discredited to convey the test of life, the test of true faith in a harsh unforgiving existence to see your hearts and actions as they decipher your inner self and see which of the two perceptions of yourself and which you will choose over the other. its all a matter of perceiving in your life for the first time with an untainted heart and a systematic black and white view of right and wrong and the willingness to accept it and let go.

Divine knowledge is a direct stream being blocked by human imperfection and the want to use it against or for only yourself, would you choose to give that away, the greatest accomplishment of man, the one thing that could give you everything all for the sake of everyone else while you remained to have nothing and not have one wince of pain or regret in your heart for the true betterment of existence. Would you use it for your own gain, to gloat, to bask in the pain it could cause for your own satisfaction of past sufferings, or would you accept and forgive, remaining vigilant and truthful and not brag or set yourself apart in any way, to give it to the world in hopes it would change and nobody would ever have to suffer that way again.

  5. I begin to wonder if it was truly hijacked. Perhaps control of it was willingly given. We always have a choice. We can fight or live in fear. Maybe the all seeing eye still represents god and always has. the task at hand he has set out is to overcome greed so we can collectivly evolve into a global conciousness.

  6. I don’t know if this makes sense to anyone else but I have been drawing the right eye very similar to the Egyptian one since I was very young. Throughout my entire childhood to teenage years up until now I always draw the same eye whenever I have a pen and paper in hand. not even intentionally just every random drawing would always be the right eye with a teary line. Reading your article was very intriguing because I was actually born and raised in Aachen so growing up I was always near the cathedral. After travelling for a couple of years, I have been consciously on the spiritual path since 2 years ago and feel like I am getting more and more drawn to symbols and hints in my everyday life co creation. Just wondering if me drawing the eye since I was a young child has a meaning ?

    • I too have ALWAYS drawn eyes when doodling for which I thought there was no particular reason, but as I’ve been awakening all the strange things that have happened to me over the years and all the things I’ve been attracted to just seem to make sense now.

    • Hmm.. I have never put much thought into it either, but seeing both of your comments (Lils & Emily) I must admit, I also have always drawn the right eye when doodling since I have been a child. My school notebooks have always been filled with eyes (and right eyes), its always been the first thing I was attracted to when starting to draw. (Hearts, Flowers, and Trees are also honourable mentions)

I always thought this was the easiest point to start with or something to do with my right hand drawing the right eye. I also thought it was more appealing to start with, rather than the nose or chin. There is a balance when you draw the eyes first because they are so central (and soul-revealing) when you draw a face. I personally don’t consider this a sign of spiritual awakening, but perhaps there is a link that is ingrained in the subconscious of something from one’s deeper past. Nonetheless, very interesting that others have been drawing the right eye like I have, and have picked up on something surrounding it.

      • That’s interesting because I used to doodle the hamsa image (an image of a giant right eye inside the palm of a hand) as a teenager even though my ethnicity is predominately Italian – not a part of a culture who uses it or is familiar with it! I recall coming across it in an article I was reading and was immediately drawn to the image that I would draw it whenever I had a creative need to draw something. I didn’t even consider it unusual until now .

      • I am joining your “right eye doodlers” club, girls. 🙂 Have always been doing it too, and exactly as Olga says, I have also felt like it was the easiest way to start drawing the face, like it was defining what the face would be expressing somehow, and then also the shape of the eyeline and the whole face outline would come after that, with the left eye either staying closed (just gently suggested that its there), or drawn much later. I also had the back pages of my school notebooks filled with these faces, sometimes so many the whole page became completely blue from the ink. 🙂 I even remember an occasion when a teacher saw it and angrily tore apart my notebook since she considered it inapproppriate (which it most likely was :-O) Nice to know its a common “diagnose”!

    • i as well have drawn the right eye since I was young. Whenever I have found myself without thought and my mind free and focused on only a piece paper I have automatically started the sketch of an eye. I’ve always wondered why. And until I read your comment, I never figured anyone other than myself questioned or had this same habit. I find it that much more fascinating now. Knowing I’m not alone just leaves more questions in my mind about how we are all connected and the true meaning of the eye .. As far as finding myself drawn more and more to symbols and their use I couldn’t agree more and hints finding myself reading this article. I believe in history and modern civilization the we all have had a yearning to find our common link as humans and see everyone as an equal striving to find peace within. I personally find myself Wondering why our cognitive dissonance eats at us I believe all of us know we are connected to each other and to our Mother Earth somehow. yet bloodshed and power, wars and destruction still commence. The greed of a few influential propaganda wielding men keep us at odds. We all have a third eye but yet religious and man made power struggles that are created by the few in power keep us from achieving this. over all the average person the common man/woman feeding their family raising their children yearn for a peaceful world. Reguardless of place, race or upbringing we want to live in peace and find common ground. We need to open our minds to knowing accepting and embracing our connections we should strive to join hands and see as one. we are all connected. One eye is a sign that we are all of the same seed that we have a single connection with this universe. Our only religion our only political system should be equality and let the universe our inner spirit be our guide.

  7. I know this is a really old article, but it must be said. The eye in the triangle was also used in the Norse Pagan tradition. Odin wanted wisdom through drinking from Mimir’s Well, he needed to sacrifice something to drink though so he tore out one of his eyes and cast it into the well. Odin basically knows all things and sees all happenings through his two crows. Crows are often referred to as “Odin’s Eyes.” The three sides of the triangular swirly symbol that gets called an Odin’s Eye can be seen to represent the eye in the well and the two crows that tell Odin of all the happenings in the nine worlds. Norse/Germanic Paganism has many similarities to Greco Roman and Egyptian paganism because all of these stories originate from the amcient Indo-European s.

    • Eye agree with you about them sharing simularities…and how all.of.the stories originated in or.from the ancient Indo-Europeans. But the actual records the original event itself where all of the “stories” originated is found written on walls of the pyramids in Egypt which predates any Indo-European whether they are ancient or present. It is a known fact amomgs scholars and can easily be Googled to find many Books written by famous authors on the existence of the pyramids in Egypt which predates any European existence on this planet as the race that experienced the world’s first known knowledge of the eye having enough significance to have its effect still felt to this day with the eye sitting on the top of a pyramid on the back of the dollar bill in the United States. Eye just wanted to agree that the “stories” about what took place originated with the Ancient Indo-Europeans about a real event that took place with the Ancient Egyptians.

      • there is no such thing as a indo European the word Europe is foreign to India and is a phoenician semetic word. quit using that word as it doesn’t have anything to do with india.the third eye is indias religious beliefs and anyone else has nothing to do with it. the rest are just a copycat. religion was originated in India and that was hinduism, jainism, and Buddhism spiritual wisdom was sathanam dharam and mantras, occult tantras, rituals, prayer, meditation, mythology, philosophy, language, ancient symbol for language, rituals, music, dance all comes from indian vedas.white people have nothing to do with indian vedas white people stole the indian Vedic words to create a sublanguage.India is not a white country nor are whites even a ancient race.

        • Don’t call others copy cats if you cannot prove that they are. Eyes are not original art pieces they are on almost every animals body So if a culture uses the eye as a symbol it does not mean it copied India, not just that but I am pretty sure he is right about Egyptians used it before India ever did.

  8. Brilliant article, youve obviously done your research David. It has huge significance in 100’s of cultures over 1000’s of years. Huge spiritual value too. So many unanswered questions as to origins and its very enigmatic. I would like to know your theory on the pineal glands relationship to the third eye and in particular the egyptians reverence for consciousness. Do you have any upcoming lectures or events coming up?

    • Well hopefully the article answers some of the questions to its origins for you Jason.
Some consider the pineal gland to be a physical counterpart to the metaphysical third eye.
It seems the ancient Egyptians considered consciousness to be spiritual hence their reverence for it.
I am not a lecturer but who knows, maybe one day!

  9. You are absolutely right David. The all seeing eye is a sacred symbol. It symbolizes the most high, the creator of all things. Many doesn’t know its power. I use it as my protection against all evil.

  10. Definitive work on this is Revelations which tells that in the end times even the very elect will be deceived by the god of this world. Jesus is the only way – no ancient “protection” will save – only Jesus.

  11. jesserayhatchbalance

we define every thing no one can hijack anything unless u allow them to even if everyone beleives a symbol is negative weather u beleive it is negative or not is all that matters and all that ever will and if you want to make a negative symbol positive again do something epic with that symbol nothing is set in stonethe wisest thing to do is except all symbols are both positive and negative and stop trying to tip the scale but thats a story fo another time

  12. I don’t know if this idea I have would be accepted by many but I’ll say it anyway. The belief that humanity was once androgynous and split into male and female in past civilisations and that we were genetically manipulated to do so for reason of enslavement. The symbology depicts that which enslaves man.

  13. i have seen a hundred all seeing eye’s in my crown chakra(enlightement) after kundalini awakening. when i was 10 years old. to me its my symbol and not that of god. or im god.

    • As a Christian Missionary from America living in Thailand for 5 years. One morning as I was walking back to my condo on the 12th floor about 10am in Jan of 2014 (during this time planet Ison was coming) and could feel the vibrations of knowledge in a spiritual sense going deep in the Bible studying and leading many Thai’s to Jesus … I walked to the end of hall because I saw a bright light and I saw a huge Eye of God under the Sun it was about 10 times bigger than the Sun and at first I was shocked and said what is this…then I felt a love that I never felt on earth go through me for about 5 min and I smiled so big and felt so loved and I knew it was the eye of God…also later as i looked directly in the Sun about 1pm I saw the eye of God… like on the back of dollar.. and it made me smile …also saw Jesus floating in the clouds so graceful.. most people dont believe me so i don’t tell to many…but I was interested in anyone else seeing the eye of God …since its on back of dollar and Egyptians or the devil has taken it as himself eye of horus …this is only site that i feel comfortable sharing…also see my youtube video on this with my notes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJpf9F8sQkM thanks and God Bless all

      • There is some truth to what you say here. I also believe that the earth is “likened” to an eye. In genesis when God created the firmament, he was creating the “Cornea” over the iris and pupil of the earth. When he created the earth that we can visibly see, he was creating the “Iris” of the earth. Around the iris of the eye where the white of the eye touches is where the firmament of the earth meets the edge of antarctica. In the middle of the earth where the north pole is located there must be some sort of pupil or hole in the earth that we have not seen. The waters above the firmament are likened to the tears we shed. The waters inside the firmament (Cornea) are separated into two parts. The fluid between the cornea and the iris and the retina.

        • Research the flat earth if you haven’t yet. You might be on to something that is more literal than one may think.

      • What a beautiful experience God has given you!

      • Christianity got that from egypt, not the other way around

      • I saw it too it was amazing I was sitting in my ex bf car while he was working on it. And all of a sudden I saw the vision but only with my right eye my left eye was still seeing reality. So my left eye was seeing what was and my right eye was having the vision of the all seeing eye it was beautiful the back ground was the sky the eye was shaped out of lightning the inside of the eye was the color of the sky with a halo around it. It was a beautiful vision and I think it means he’s watching over me he sees what’s going on here sees it all!

      • I know what the eye means. If you would like to talk about it and find out more let me know. There are ways you can develop this further.

      • If you would like to develop this gift I can help.

  14. there were 2 trees in the garden of eden…the tree of life and the tree of KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and evil…these 2 trees were IN OPPOSITION to each other…did ancients like sumerians and Egyptians somehow tap into this “tree” and receive magic powers we don’t know about today???…moses and the magicians of Egypt…they COULD turn a rod into a snake AND turn the nile red like moses…YET, they were IN OPPOSITION to each other…the KNOWLEDGE is definitely available there…but unknown today…unless..

    • the two in opposition are symbolic for dual-natured thinking. the trap humanity suffers from. to be continually inclined to judge comes from this trap. and yet, “everyone’s” perspective is too narrow to be judge of anything

      • I agree with the statement, “everyone’s” perspective is too narrow to be judge of anything.”

    • I believe the tree of life is the Ginko Biloba tree. It has no relatives left and was here before the great floods. So it must be the tree of life. The tree of knowledge, well, I believe it was the PINK apple. We have not this day. The wild NY crab apple is very bitter when young, but if you do not eat the fruit or chop it down and you care for it even thought it is “ugly” and bitter, after many years you will get very large sweet fruit, and the fruit from the last crop before it dies will have the very mature very best seed,if this was cultivated and cared for eventually we would get the PINK apple back and we would be ready for the great knowledge. Like the 3 gardens that were flooded with the tears of GOD when Abraham fell after David and CO killed the “bitter ugly bad ” man. NO PATIENCE. And what was left after much death? But three rows of scraps. No more does any one live long like Abraham who ate from the se special gardens. But if we do right and cultivate as we are designed to do we will receive many new fruits and vegetables to make us very healthy, like jasmine fruit and others. Orange was only a flower way back, and so was apple but a tiny itty bitty nasty lil berry for the birds. We must have patience. THE fig tree is also mentioned….:) so three trees and also Lazarus resurrected prior to CHRIST , yet many say CHRIST is the one and only, tis a lie. CHRIST assisted a few in coming back it is there in the bible they thump about as the mumble like blind men clanging metal pots and pans.

    • I found out the hard way. The answer is that the rod was for dowsing. Dowsing contacts knowledge but the knowledge is a life force (that is also the the snake)….deceptive, manipulative, cunning, all knowing but also willing to lie and very, very dangerous.
Signed… a person fighting for my life against paranormal attacks after taking an herbal class that taught dowsing.

  15. Hello very interesting read. I am hoping you could maybe try to explain something to me. I got a aura reading done and after the person finished telling me their colors. They said they also see “gold pyramid with a light shining out from the top” when I googled it. Your article came up. I’m curious to which one if these ( if any) would be similar. They said they are not sure what it means for me and I’m not sure either. I wish I was more connected to my guides to get the answer but sadly I’m not ( yet)

  16. Pls excuse the typos. Big fingers small keypad. Sorry.

  17. WOAH!…Bravo……what a read. Let me furnish ur minds with a scenario of, childishly imagined, yet not a hairs width away from plausibility.
    Imagine;, close ur eyes, breath…….slowly.
……A bully at my school seemed to live a life of immense power and respect. Though a respect that had been bred out of fear and control. Over the years he had acquired a small following of boys and girls who followed like sheep in hope of claiming an identity that would give them some self worth and meaning to their rebellion teenage rage.
Identity, imploring allegiance..eventually over the years had taken the shape of a drawing the bully leader hadscribbled in art clasd. A piece of grafitti of a hammer held in a tight fist about to strike. This became a symbol of membership and loyalty, and a gang insignia. Eventually, the symbol was tatooed on the nape of all the members…..an importance was assignef to a silly drawing so much so that over time the bully himself nor his gang were remembered as time disperses memories and people grow up. But, the symbol remained. It was taken up yrars later by an artisan and used it in his clay sculptures……..sculotures yhat were dug up yeats later and once again an intrigue and speculation played homage to a silly drawing that had its origins from a small gango gungho gang culture many years before. Yet, many, many years later it became intrigue as to meaning and power.
Symbols!!!!!! Silly drawings derived gang cultures still confuse us silly humans who are always seatching for silly meanings that really mean nothing. Grow up froends. Please.

  18. this just proves white devils ruin anything giving it a negative offset meaning they misappropriate and touch. the third eye was FIRST Indias symbol and still widely used today by indian women.whites also ruined the meanings of other symbols such as the swastika and trying to ruin yoga. whites should be sued for stealing someone else’s property.no wonder white demons are hated worldwide.

    • evil will get in where-ever it can, such as racism

    • And in your next life, if you are reborn white will this too make you a “white demon”? No one can control what color they are born, only the love within their heart. Please try to be more open minded.

    • White demons forged the most tolerant and equal societies on the face of the planet. The swastika was present in many more than just Indian cultures regardless of where it originated. It was simply corrupted by a leader that doesn’t represent the views of the majority of whites. The third eye is a symbol that has existed long before the idea of Shiva arose. It is almost a universal symbol and it’s presence on the dollar bill is simply meant to portray the idea that God is with that nation. Besides, whites aren’t the ones who corrupted said symbol, people and the mainstream culture did. A culture that isn’t necessarily white. Think before you open your mouth. Open your eyes before you take a step.

      • Ok lets not get carried away, most tolerant and equal societies? That is a bold and factitious claim considering the age of the earth and the innumerable numbers of societies that have existed, further more taking into account the oppression that still exist in every nation in the world your statement becomes completely biased and wrong. This world is most tolerant and equal to those who sit at the top brass of society and those who share their color/culture.

      • uh the swastika is OURS! WE ARE INDIAN! and is a indian Vedic sanskrit word ”svasti” ”svastika” ”su asti ka” it doesn’t belong to anyone else but india Indians and Buddhism Jainism and Hinduism all are indigenous to India indians.

    • Wowwwww, what has happened to you?!

    • Educate, educate… Saying this truly kindly. I understand your rage. We have all been mislead throughout history and may have more in common that we think. Because the web has become so pulluted with falsities and misinterpretations this approach may take a while but you will see everything as we all should see it…..in a true perspective. Symbols tell us unfalliable stories where words can destroy a story. Symbols are universal to tribes so that we may know one another without disillusionment and misrepresentation like words can often do, as they are not universal but scattered about and misleading but symbols have and entire story of unconvuluted truth. I had no clue who I was and was raised knowing only a Christian way of thinking. I was awakened by a spiritual feeling and suddenly everything everyone had created for me fell like an unwanted veil and my expression became that of purity, truth wonder. I was pushed by a great force within to go to great lengths and several nights with not much sleep, educating myself with multiples upon multiples of materials and became aware that histories weren’t adding up to memories of things I had learned earlier in life. This took me down so many paths and through so many tears and anger as well. I was completely alone and at one point very afraid and ready to give up when I again felt a force of love, and it came from many within one. The great spirit is great for a reason, you just have to take down the veil, gather your inner warrior and search. awakening=wonder=search=work=reward= sharingand caring for those around you. It took me around 7 months to find the truth and the long haul was worth it…. Do people really think a better place is magically handed to them because if so then they’d be just as well with a magic 8 to shake. A better place means to learn hard lessons in life even if that means walking the same path over and over or walking with someone weaker than you to help guide them along there’s so that can reap the benefits of internal blis… We don’t offer “candy” or sweet deals as a means of recruitment, spirituality is to be earned and sought one on one. I really hope you are able to find a better understanding so that you may have a clearer vision and a peace within your heart. Stress and anger break us down and can often distort a better way of looking at things so that we may see truth hidden beneath the lies.

  19. Thanks for the wonderful explanation of the all seeing eye, it help a lot. It gives me proper information to about the all seeing eye. I could explain better now why I chose to have this symbol as the symbolism of my faith and spirituality…

  20. Thanks for the interesting article. I recently was entering into a deep meditation when I saw a large eye {Egyptian eye) looking back at me. It stared back at me intensively and then blinked. At this point, I was afraid of it and like on auto-pilot exited the meditation. I `knew’ it was the `all knowing’ eye, and I have been on the spiritual path since 2000 and had some wonderful experiences, including being outdoors and seeing everything around me in the most vivid, bright color beyond words. It was colour like I had neer imagined and I could feel light, love and a different, higher vibration. Given I have been touched by so many spiritual experiences of our greater reality (which extend well beyond my limited Catholic upbringing and cannot be described in words), I am not sure why I was so afraid of this eye in the meditation. I wish I had stayed with it. I can only imagine what I may have experienced. Although I was fearful of it, at the same time I knew it was a higher, more powerful and knowing source. Perhaps it will come to me again. I have also experienced immense love and light from source, from the age of 6, when I begged to return `home’ and was lovingly told I must stay because I am here to make a difference to the lives of others. I do believe that those that do not increase their vibration will be left behind, in that they will remain lower dimensional human beings and more prone to suffer from depression, illness etc… It is a shame when a symbolic spiritual symbol such as the eye is used for purposes of control and power and authority. The truth comes to us when we look within. I often wonder if the eye that I saw was external to me or part of me/ my higher self. Love and light to you all.

    • The eye is part of you and not external, so is everything part of you and you of it. And knoweth that there is nothing that isnt everything. And none lower nor higher, the answers lies not in who you are, but the opposite, IT lies within you and is you, as you are everything there would ever be and ever been. So is everyone everything and the seeing of the eye is the seeing of truth, it Will trouble the one who finds it, and astonish the one who again seeks to find it. The fear of the spiritual Will spark the braveness to the one who keeps searching.

Its not a matter of becoming good nor evil, its a matter of becoming yourself, then letting go of this image that is yourself and then be one with everything.

Wake up, the eye sees you. Learn to see its truths.

      In regards Benjen

    • How can I induce the lucid dream? and what do I need to do remember my dreams.

  22. Having read your posting of Jun 17, 2014 which I find to be enlightening, I am now looking for the follow-up article. Have you written it yet, if not when may we expect it to be posted.

  23. Hello there, The all seeing eye is simply hacked mobile phones, landlines and access to Satillites that all the media and Government has access too! Also, those muppets that stand on stage posing, thinking they are really great. I think they call them artists. Studios are also involved. They can often be seen hacking and watching over you whilst rubbing there little monkey.

  24. Melissa Van Asten

I have been visited by this eye in a lucid dream, but it was not a regular lucid dream. I am still trying to understand what it was or meant.

I will tell you my experience.

I have been lucid dreaming since I was very young. I also experience out of body experiences often.
For a few days I was contemplating what a lucid dream actually is. I am in the field of psychology and so have always been very fascinated by the intricate workings of the mind body spirit. I know that when I dream I am using subconscious thoughts projected. I know that when I lucid dream I am allowing conscious in a subconscious virtual reality. I wondered if I could dig deeper, unconsciously. Was this a doorway unknown?

So I planned that the next time I would lucid dream I would create a door. I would give this door meaning as a doorway to my unconscious.

I dreamt that I was on the roof of a moving truck and clicked into a lucid dream. I made the truck go on a loop and stood up calmly as the backdrop swooped past reoccurring. I remembered my plans and clapped. A door appeared on the roof of the truck, however it was crooked..

I said out loud ‘when I step through this door I will go back, back to the beginning, the mysterious of my unconscious will be revealed to me.’

I opened the door, it was pitch black inside and I stepped through. I was surrounded by nothing, darkness, no roof, no walls, no floor. The only light I could see was the light from the door behind me, the light was in front of me. The door slammed behind me, it echoed very loudly, it was pitch black now and it was at that point that I realized I was no longer in control of this… dream..

Ahead of me I saw a glimmer. I focused my gaze and saw that it was a tiny golden triangle spinning very slowly. I noticed that it was slowly getting bigger and bigger. Then I realized it wasn’t getting bigger it was actually far away and was shooting towards me. As I realized this the triangle flew in front of me and stopped but continued to spin to the left slowly. It was huge. A giant golden shining pyramid, made from golden blocks in a row. On the top was a horus eye.

I had no idea what I was looking at, but it felt alive.

I stared into the eye and then it got really indescribable but I will try my best.

My field of image was now filled with flashes of thousands and thousands of the most beautiful images fathomable. These images flashed so incredibly fast but I felt myself absorb and see them all. The most beautiful flower opening, the most beautiful bird taking flight, breathtakingly beautiful. THOUSANDS. I can’t recall them all now.

I was overwhelmed at how wonderful life is. I woke up.

Through my research I cannot believe what I am attributing to this experience. This is what I have learnt and attributed to the dream.

I put the truck on a loop, much like our matrix of life is on a loop, and I created a door out of this.
I was surrounded by nothing, I learnt in the beginning there was nothing, I didn’t mean to go that far back…
The eye was the all seeing eye, and it stared at ME. And I looked at this with wonder and curiosity and it blessed me with images of beauty, raising my vibration forever more.

If anyone can expand on this and interpret this further I’d love to hear from you. I thought it may be good to put this experience out there, I wonder if anyone else went back too.

    Bless and peace.

    • Thank you for sharing that amazing story! I’ve started lucid dreaming quite by accident so it’s inspiring me to try be more creative and daring with it!

    • I just went on the journey you described. Your description took me there. I can’t wait to try lucid dreaming. My awareness is expanding at a rapid rate and what I took from your story is that “We” are the all seeing eye. If you look at point of view or vanishing point drawings I think that gives an important clue. We can only see so far into the horizon before things disappear into a vanishing point. Our eye works like a pyramid with the point of the pyramid being the focal point or vanishing point from your particular point of view. The flashes of beautiful imagery are to let you know that’s part of what it (life) is about. Perceiving this amazing experiences and the beauty that is caught by the pyramidal eye design. The (I) in on top and capping the pyramid. Let me know what your thoughts are. Great research of the available material on the subject even if this was just a preliminary. Great Job. No fear…. Just love or lack of it in this world. It’s not what you perceive, it’s how you conceive of it afterwards that forms your reality… Do your best not to accept the medias two dimensional narratives that ‘you’ can never verify in your Third dimensional body, that want you to react and move in a desired way through forth dimensional space/time. The powers that be, the elite; See their desired goals and social environments in the fifth, sixth and possibly seventh dimensions and therefor see possible tweaks and social engineering techniques to manifest their concepts and ideologies. One of these techniques is feeding us two dimensional narratives of gun violence and mental health that contain threads and evidence that we will never examine. It has been incredible successful for them. Picture the trauma-based brainwashing drill of 9/11 on a micro or community based scale. I.e. Sandy Hook. Trauma-based social engineering. An example…. despite it’s years of representing the discouraging notion of continued slavery in America the Confederate flag endured. The same that adorned the top or “Roof” of the General Lee car in episodes of ‘The Dukes of Hazard County. The flag became linked to one of these Social Science experiments in reaction and manipulation Pointless Gun violence allegedly perpetrated by one Dylann “Roof”. This formulated news creation, with the help of social media of today led to the removal of all Confederate flags from the “Roof” of all Federal Buildings. Are you starting to see the picture. Let the bloggers blog. They enjoy it when non-conspirators create their elaborate connections and conspiracies. They “We” protest “For” the government rather then “against” these days. Big brother is so far untouchable. Love life, love your family. Who cares if the Earth is Round like a Ball, Flat like a plane or stuck in a snow globe. It’s Earth and it’s beautiful and it sustains me and you and all else that is going on around here. Isn’t that enough. Sorry to ramble… Just got caught up in typing my thoughts and others on these various matters. To summarize: I think our I works like a pyramid or the vanishing point of our visions functioning can be described by the pyramid. Hence the eye/pyramid combo being another theme.

    • David
I had a dream last night Feb 19 2018 where at first I saw a shape of a square floating across the sky and immediately on looking up saw the all seeing eye in the sky with rays of light emanating from the triangle. It was a comforting sight and as I looked on the ground I saw the most beautiful small birds with soft colors , dainty and graceful. As I read Melissa’s dream I found a few similarities. It had me wondering and thinking about it all day and I searched the net to find your site before I closed this day to sleep tonight.
Ah some closure and confirmations from fellow beings.
      Stay in peace everyone
      Jenny

  25. I will share a brief personal story about the eye.

All of this is from self training. I have never studied under a spiritual yogi. In the religious world, I am re-born as a Catholic. For 30 years prior to becoming a Catholic, I studied (in-depth) most of the world’s religions. My relationship to Catholicism was/is far from traditional.

A new convert, in 2005, I was sitting in the 35 minute daily Mass… like always in the front row. Eyes closed, I was running my energy while activating my chakras up and down. They were vibrant, rotating. I went into the inner eye and was climbing as I was ascending into the light space. As is with ascension, the light was more effervescent by the second. Suddenly, I blew my head chakra and I was having a spiritual orgasm – literally. My body was convulsing as I was spiraling into the ascension into light. Tears were streaming. I was somehow still able to partake in the ceremony even if I was not in the room… and I was having multiple orgasms. I was still climbing.

Really, I am not lying. I am not crazy. I was able to replicate this more than once. (ie on different days) Each time, I was touched by God.

Crying – tears streaming – I landed back in church and quickly left. Driving home I was so high I cannot describe the space. Colors – everything was other worldly. I was driving…. in automatic mode. Trying to process consciously what was spiritual. Suddenly, in the horizon before me there was the All Seeing Eye – in the pyramid. It was in the sky… dangling there. I could move my head and look back – it was still there…. touching me. For more than 5 minutes it dangled in the sky – in full color – for me to observe.

My life path is one that has me before the public. I am not a masonic. I do not study the eye. I was running my chakras.

I learned that when one blows their chakras, you can have orgasms without sexual involvement of any sort… and when you do… it changes who you are.

God would not commit evil to me in this way. I believe as David has said… the symbol of the eye predates current usages. It is what we do when we ascend. We merge the two eyes to one and like a pyramid, climb higher and higher into the light. If we do so with the intentionality of opening the chakras – then we can reach higher awakenings.

Thank you for this post. I had many terrors strike my life since 2006 and it was only yesterday that I reminded myself of the eye.

    • The same thing happened to me about a week ago, when I was in church for the baptism of my nephew.
Feel free to email or call me if you want to discuss more. I would love to know more information about your experience. My email is 5canfiem@ginw.org. My phone number is (308) 370-1303. Thank you for sharing your story.

    • It’s because ur pineal gland released a chemical called DMT(spirit molecule)…wat u saw is the true world ….

  26. I want to share some individual experiences that I had concerning the Pyramid and the Eye. When I started to use some meditative techniques and especially when I found my spiritual teacher, while meditating with closed eyes inner visions started to appear. The first vision was seeing a Pyramid from above, than seeing it from one side as triangle and often with an Eye inside. Those inner visions persisted for a longer period of time, while meditating.
But the most extraordinary experience I had with those symbols was in a dream, which happened three weeks before my initiation in the esoteric spiritual path that I am following now. At that time I had to make a serious decision about my further spiritual development.
In the dream suddenly I found myself in a Pyramid. In the Pyramid was my brother dressed as an Egyptian with naked shoulders. In the Pyramid there was an Eye on the wall. I said to my brother “That’s the Eye that I am seeing”. My brother answered “the name of that Eye is Lazarus”. Suddenly I went out of the Pyramid and became fully conscious that I am in a dream. A gentle breeze was going over my head. I got scared and returned to my body. Than I woke up. Next morning I searched on Google about the meaning of Lazarus. It means “God has helped”. The message from the dream was clear that I had found my spiritual teacher.
I am still searching for more explanations about the ancient meaning of the Pyramid and the Eye. Those symbols are very old and are part of our subconscious…why (?), I am still searching for an answer. I have never visited any Pyramid or was especially attracted by it before the beginning of my spiritual journey.

    • Hi – I just had my first vision of the eye last night. I’ve been meditating for over a year, but I’m still in the beginning stages of this process. Sometimes, when I meditate, I have lucid dreams. Most of end up with me feeling like I’m leaving my body, after which I feel scared and wake myself up. I don’t like that feeling of “losing control” of the dream process, so I make a conscious effort to awake. Last night, though, I saw the eye and I felt like it was pulling me in. Once I started feeling like I could no longer control the pull, I did everything in my power to wake up, which happened shortly after.

My mother happens to also be very interested in her own spiritual development, as well as meditation. We often discuss spiritual topics and talk about our journeys. Out of the blue, she texted some pictures today. She goes on daily walks and likes to take pictures of the plants and animals she sees along her path. She noticed that in about 4 of them, the image of a green eye shape was turning up. She sent me these images today, which I found extremely weird since I just dreamed about a green eye the night prior.

Do you have any insight you can provide me based on your experience? I’m really curious to find some meaning to this, and the fact that my mother is also experiencing something very similar. Many thanks for any information you can provide me.

  27. Excellent work !!!……many thanks…..

  28. Great article David. Would love to have a conversation with you. Let me know when you’re in Essex, UK

  29. Everyone has taken this symbol completely the wrong way, it’s not a god or a evil force at all, it’s instructions on how to see into the 7th dimension, a dimension of light, hence the references to it bearing the light, if u figure out how to use it from all these symbols( which is pretty self explanatory seeing as it’s shows a pyramid and a hand with an eye in the center… I mean come on guys u are all over thinking it) then you will know it for sure because you will now be able to see the forces which have always been hiding in plain sight, trust me, let’s just say I am certain that I am correct, and that’s all I am able to say cuz I can show u how to see a rainbow but that doesn’t mean you will know what it is you are looking at, the rest is up to you. Good luck and I hope you will all be enlightened, we are rooting for you all.

    • Good luck to you also but I think there is a lot more to seeing into the 7th dimension.

    • What’s the 7th dimension?? I’ve been noticing this all seeing eye appear everywhere throughout TV (inc media and music) to buildings and clothes. I’m not one to come under any MKUltra type programme. Ive been through a number of spiritual cultures with an open mind on knowing the truth on reachibg enlightenment needless to say wanting to make sure my family is safe and not moulded into artificial selected-conditioning.

      • you and your family are safe, no worries, we are all coming into the new age, the age of truth, enlightenment, this is what the Mayan calendar was showing, not the end of the world, but the end of an age, the age of Pisces, we are now in the age of Aquarius, the age of cleansing, truth. it may seem frightening at first as you watch the world drastically change all around you but it is only the viel being lifted from your eyes so no need to worry, embrace it. and enough time has passed for me to be able to bring you one step closer, “look THROUGH your hand” as each eye sees a different dimension of an object you look at right? and just focus on the light, soon enough you will understand. take care.

        • That’s an interesting concept – look through your hand – which I take you find symbolised by the eye on hand motif. To me the idea of looking through your hand points to the concept of self-awareness if we take the eye to be our own consciousness but also it could be saying that a Godhead sees all that we do.

          • hello i am returning to bring another step of enlightenment towards your grasp, yes we are in the NOW, which is the time of human evolution. religion will be exposed for what it is, modern day christian churches worship the SUN of god, not the son, sun worship, paganism is its true identity, the matrix is beginning to be exposed and the masses are beginning to awaken and become aware of this. make a pyramid with your two hands and make it so you can see through both hands at the same time, as your vision is still in that state look at the tip of the pyramid you made which should now look like an M witch a pyramid just below the V shape in the M, the tip of this pyramid is now where you can glimpse into the next dimension. this does not open the dimension 100% but it is able to show you a peak of it, this dimension you will be looking into is not of this 3 dimensional forms and shapes so these beings will not have a physical form for they are made up of higher vibrational light, once you train your eyes for more clearer vision they will guide you to the rest of your evolutionary shift. i wish luck to you all and hope to see you become your potential soon. till next time.

          • I got lost trying to follow what you meant regarding the M shape and V shape. In any case, I tried it and didn’t see anything. If those beings are there and wanting to guide us to our evolutionary shift I don’t see why they would wait until we have done some trick with looking through our hands in a triangle shape.

          • It is symbolism, symbols hold tremendous power as do numbers, our universe is held together by the existance of 9, 9 times and number will come back to 9 watch, 9×14=126, 1+2+6=9, a circle, 360 degrees, 9, cut it in half? 180, then 90 then 45, 22.50, 11.25, 9 is the binary to our universe or multiverse i should say

    • Conspiracy Nenna

7th dimension???? clearly all of you are lost. these people take are symbolism to keep us sleep!! it’s way deeper then you guys are thinking. they use that all seeing eye to tell us they watching us and always have been. you see this symbol in EVERYTHING! we are all systematically F*****.

  30. This symbol has not been distorted, as Michelle and others say. There have always been two forms of the All-seeing-eye, the divine and demon form. The latter is the so told Evil-eye. Even Shiva has this negative destroying aspect in India. It is the same as that form of Him which portrays the god in the act of eating the Mrga (Antelope or Deer, emblem of Soul), normally kept in His hand with kindness.

    • The evil eye was something different and I would not equate it with Shiva’s destroying aspect. I think it is in more recent times that a second demonic form (evil eye) of the all-seeing eye has emerged but originally it was only used in a positive way.

      • Agreed, Shiva carried out the DANCE of destruction, he has been known throughout the Vedas as the angry one because scripture States that he reincarnated through the brow of Bhrama when he was angry (yet he was always present; I know, it got me too). He is also known as easily pleased, hence he has one of the biggest following of devotees including those souls fallen in darkness!

      • Hi David, thanks for the article.
According to my knowledge Shiva’s eye on his forehead does not distinguish one from another including good and evil, positive or negative, dead or alive. When Shiva opens his third eye it destroys everything it sees. Absolutely nothing is spared.

        • I take that as symbolising the force of destruction which eventually occurs to everything but also when there are great cataclysms which change the entire planet.

  31. I recall visiting several of my friends homes and seeing the nazars hanging usually near the entrance as if to welcome and offer protection to kindred spirits into their homes while keeping evil ones at bay. Same with the bindis – to me they represented something mysterious and I would see my friends wearing it periodically, usually on special occasions, such as a wedding, to showcase its importance. I didn’t really fully understand their significance at that time but now that I do, I appreciate their symbolism. I hope more people are aware of this symbol’s sacred roots and not let the recent exploitation of it influence them to think of it as anything other than sacred.

    • hi Patricia, I feel the same as you:

I hope more people are aware of this symbol’s sacred roots and not let the recent exploitation of it influence them to think of it as anything other than sacred.”

Although for some bindis are becoming more of a fashion statement, which is another way (in my opinion) to lessen its sacredness, as the use becomes a materialistic mean instead of its true spiritual higher meaning.

      • Hi Geraldine

You’re right about the fashion use of bindis that has been popularized recently, but I had a more interesting experience growing up with my Hindu friends. At that time I saw how bindis where being used against them in a more discriminating way. It was interesting to see how the older generation’s faith was unwavering – they wore them all the time – but it was the younger ones that were having trouble with it and wouldn’t wear it around non-Hindus at school, work or play. I would only see them wearing it on rare occasions when there was an important family event. It was as if they were embarrassed by it because it set them apart from other people which I wonder may have been part of some hidden darker agenda for Western society to ridicule its significance and attack something to that was considered “different”. Even I as a child I initially thought it really stood out and looked a little strange but it was only when I started to get to know my friends. their culture and their spiritual beliefs that I understood that I was completely ignorant about it. I’m so glad though that it’s significance is being brought back to light in this article 🙂

        • True Patricia, bindis have a very interesting role to play, it was to awaken ones spirituality, also to state which spiritual clan one was from; massive topic but for now let’s just generalise the spiritual aspect of it. I was born in Britain, UK but even though I was subject to heavy racism (you’re talking coming home with a black eye or cuts and bruises everyday), I was forced to conform as though I was white British. Is there no wonder why the second generation rejected traditional Hindu ideals, especially when the parents had no clue as to why they were practicing it themselves. Now there are different forms of prejudice which take place on anyone who shows difference, it’s the nature of a conditioned society afraid.

  32. very interesting and thought provoking. thanks for the info

  33. Hi there David, I am really pleased that I found your article. Around three weeks ago, I had this ‘knowing’ in me as well that the Black Magicians who rule the world, stole the Symbols that belong to Earth’s Children. The resonance of these symbols being returned to the people will re-establish once again our mental and physical wellness; our relationships with each other, wit our Mother and with everything on Her; with our Sky Families, the planets, the Sonne; with systems for agriculture and horticulture; for Energy production, transportation (including teleportation), distribution networks, new business models and social fostering and participation models; new doorways to reclaim Spiritual Awakening and Awareness. I began retrieving. I have received two more symbols that i’ve never seen before. One of them has now been interpreted. I found it on a site with graphics describing music resonance. It’s a cycle of fifths. The other one still has no interpretation as yet. The meaning will be found when it’s ready to be seen. Thanks.

    • Thanks for your comments Bronwyn. I wonder too about the crop circles and the effects they might have on things.

  34. Sorry, but all your examples of the eye are from pagan religions and perspectives. It’s all bad.

    • hi Megadon, I don’t see why something pagan should automatically be considered bad. Also, there are lots of things in Christianity which came from pagan traditions. What about the all-seeing eyes on the Church’s I gave examples of above?

    • Hi Megadon, “Pagan” simply means country man, ie: somebody who lives in the country, as opposed to the city. “Pagans” would be considered uncouth, uneducated, without refinement so it’s easy to see how they might be tarred with an undesirable brush. However, these people were also close to the land, the seasons, the inward stirring of “The Good” in their hearts. They didn’t need a codified religion. They lived in The Unity all the time. That’s why such people, and people living this way now (eg: indigenous peoples) are SUCH a THREAT to the establishment… because they can see right through the bs of organised religions 🙂

ps. I’m Pagan. I WAS brought up in the country. I got an education (BA ancient history). And I walk every moment with That Which Indwells me 🙂 There is no “God”. There IS Eternal Conscious Being Which is Unfathomable… and which organised religion tries to contain and define and belittle and give a name to, as one might name a ‘pet’ or a ‘familiar’. All of the efforts to contain The Unfathomable which organized religion engages itself with, is an entirely pointless exercise !! How can one define That which is without definition, and suppose to know the “mind” of that which is unknowable and whose “mind” can never be guessed at by such puny human minds as ours ?? 🙂 Love to all BEings, from Bronwyn in New Zealand.

  35. A wonderful survey of a symbol found around the world, and throughout recorded history. The reason for this is actually quite simple. It is a phenomena that is part of our psycho-somatic structure. The Chakra system is not just a theory; it is something that anyone and everyone can experience for themselves, if they take the time and make the necessary effort. The “third eye”, the “eye of Shiva”, the “eye of Horus”, are all referring to the Ajna Chakra, which can be seen shinning brightly within the forehead emerging out of the darkness behind your closed eyes. Again, this is not a theory, but a phenomena that anyone can experience. And many people have, as well as myself. Does that make one “enlightened”? Well, that depends on on your definition doesn’t it? The truth is that each of us is a spiritual being experiencing a marvelous biological existence, which collectively, we are only beginning to explore. Pleasant journeys to all my fellow travelers. Roderick

  36. Actually, here is the creations first use of the first use ever of the all seeing eye and Pineal.

32:29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

32:31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32:32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.

Douay Rheims Version of the Catholic Bible

The Book of Genesis, Verses of Chapter 32

This predates Christianity which the Catholic faith began April 33AD. The first mass was actually conducted on the Passover. So, in other words, the Last Supper over shadowed Passover’s Exodus from Egypt and also prefigured what would become known as the final Passover. Hence the passing over from Judean or monotheism into the one true Faith of Christ Catholicism. Hence the term Judeo Christian. Jesus, who as the High Priest, did the requiem of His life, death and resurrection and in making preparation for His Holy Spirit consecrated the bread aka His Body and the wine aka His Blood, so that all who follow His true Faith aka Catholicism could receive Him through the Holy Spirit.

I can’t place a date, but at the Time of Jacob and the use of the word Peniel it is most then certain that this is the very first use of the word and as it relates to its meaning.

You will often hear people indicate that they have had an Ephiphany sometime in their life. Only issue is, that more often than not, this could be an unholy one which is why you hear people state ” The devil made me do it.”

  37. Thank you David for your article. It is very precious all these information. I wait your next article

Indeed in Greece the Nazar (blue eye as it is in picture) is very common to protect cute babies or new stores from the evil eye (caused by jealousy from others, as you said).

The evil eye (caused by jealousy from others and not only) is called “spell”. “Spell” it is a wider term that even the suspicious Orthodox church, on these matters, admits as the only real of the area of witchcraft.

For this reason, it is also very common when a person has received this evil eye-“spell”, a comon woman says some specific words that only herself knows, or she says Lord’s prayer. She whispers the words and simultaneously she forms by her right hand on air the sign of cross three times above a small cup of water dripping a drop of oil after every cross . If the person indeed has received this bad influence by the bad eye then the oil instead of remains as one, it dissolves and it spreads to the whole surface of water and mainly around the cup, relieving also the person. Of course, as you understand this is against any physical law, because always the drop oil remains gathering to one spot!!

  38. Very interesting article David.

As in Ecuador, the Egyptian pyramids also mostly had capstones, often with the symbol of the two eyes.

In Morocco, every door on older buildings had the symbol of the Hand of Fatima (mostly with the eye) – often used as door knockers or sometimes as huge hinges.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

  39. Great article David, looking forward to others ahead.

It’s sad that the all-seeing eye is so misused.
Just a couple of days ago I ran into an old friend who was very excited to tell me about her intention to get a tattoo of the all-seeing-eye found on the American dollar bill. Sadly, she was convinced that it was a spiritual symbol.

    • It is a spiritual symbol depending on the intent and interpretation behind it which is what can be questioned regarding those who put it on the US dollar.

  40. The Brazilians use a charm identical to the Nazar called Olho Gordo (fat eye). They have pretty strong belief in the evil eye, and the seriousness of being protected from it.

My mom told me she was attacked by someone using the ‘evil eye’ (in Brazil). At the time, she was pregnant with me, something like 5 weeks, and immediately felt horrible and went into labor. Luckily, she recuperated and was fine. Years later, she would warn me to not exchange dirty looks with people.

  41. It is sad that such a beautiful symbol has been distorted to create such a horrible feeling. Thanks for bringing this information into the light. I look forward to the next section.

  42. Thanks Dave, that’s a good synthesis.

An interesting documentary showing a history behind an aspect of this is below. It is good for historical background but again contains elements difficult to determine good or bad, or what the intentions of the historical figures were, assuming history is also written or interpreted accurately. It shows the ‘New World Order’ may again be a hijacked expression, from benevolent to evil.
Eye of the Phoenix – http://youtu.be/fvHD5dFiEPI

The second is the archetypal story often copied by Hollywood in subsequent movies.
Rudyard Kiplings – The Man Who Would Be King (1975).
I cant find a full version online, maybe its been culled on purpose due to its freemasonry storyline, but the eye is prominently figured.

    • thanks Shane, it seems like the information in that Eye of the Phoenix doco is the same as I have found elsewhere.

  43. To add to the universal symbolism of the all-seeing eye, coincidentally just yesterday I was reading a book by Grace Cooke called Sun Men of the Americas, where she presents and brings to light the forgotten wisdom of the ancient Indian cultures. Here is something she shared about the Christ figure of that time:

“The story is that he came mysteriously to the Indian peoples and taught them about the wonderful life beyond the Sun; taught them the lessons of peace, brotherhood and goodwill, and all the beautiful truths which Jesus the Christ also taught his disciples… His symbol was the all-seeing eye. It was believed by the Indians that their saviour was always with them and was watching over them. In a sense his was a magical, a spiritual eye, all-seeing, all-loving, and they knew that his eye was upon them as so all was well.”

Couldn’t help but think of that when I saw the picture you included of the rattlesnake disc.

    • Interesting timing that you came across that just now. It’s also cool to hear about the existence of spiritual groups in the Americas, which I only have really run into through their sacred sites. It seems like the eye is given different degrees of prominence in different religions, although the meanings do seem quite similar.

    • That’s really interesting Jenny, thanks for adding that information here. Co-incidentally I just came across a mosaic from 560AD in a church in Egypt which depicts Christ inside an eye! I will add it in the part 2 article.

    • Jenny, thinking more about what you said about Christ and the ancient Americas and linking that to the rattlesnake disc, perhaps the knotted snakes are like the tug-a-war between good and evil, between an ascending snake (good) and a descending snake (evil) and in the middle of this spiritual war is the Christic force. This interpretation reminds me of the Churning of the Milky Ocean mentioned in your article – https://consciousreporter.com/conspiracy-against-consciousness/the-widespread-use-of-inverted-esoteric-symbols-in-fashion/

  44. Really interesting info David. I saw some buildings in Europe awhile back with the eye surrounded by gold and they were quite beautiful. I felt there must be a spiritual meaning behind the symbol that had been twisted and distorted in it’s current use, so thanks for explaining it and making it clear.

I like “The eye of providence” – that’s seems like a really fitting description for it.

    Look forward to part two!

    • I also always thought ancient forms of this symbol, like the eye of Horus, must be spiritual, but so often it’s portrayed as negative these days in association with more modern “Illuminati” versions of the all-seeing eye which have distorted it. The waters have definitely been muddied, and I don’t think many people realise this symbol was spiritual to begin with and then got hijacked and distorted. So thanks for this research David, showing how this symbol existed across many cultures and revealing the original positive meanings it had.

I’m also looking forward to the next instalment and learning more about how it was co-opted and the mystery of its use on the US dollar bill!
